8 Vasantalu is a Telugu-language coming-of-age romantic drama from India directed and written by Phanindra Narsetti, featuring Ananthika Sanilkumar, Hanu Reddy, and Raviteja Duggirala, produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film depicts the character journey of a young woman through eight years of transformation while addressing themes of love, loss, and self-discovery and how time moulds relationships, identities and our lives.

The story follows Shuddhi Ayodhya (Ananthika Sanilkumar), a 17-year-old martial arts practitioner and aspiring writer, too. Shuddhi lives in Ooty with her mother, who sells tea. Her father died in service to the country as an army officer. Although Sport in India's 2023 Best Motoring show would summarily describe Shuddhi as a kid, she contains an understated strength that advertises her advanced experience for her humble age, as well as her personal history. A break from routine, a trip to Kashmir, introduced Mohammad, an autumn romance blossoming against the backdrop of snow, ice formations and colonial architecture.

Alas, the winter came to an abrupt end, separating Shuddhi and Varun. Following the shattering event of separation, her past crumbled like a life submerged in unwarranted suffering. So eight years passed, and within shifting personal contexts in romantic love, ambition and self-discovery, Shuddhi re-entered a rhythmic life and first met Sanjay (Raviteja Duggirala), whose safe harbour left Shuddhi gently untouched. Yet her unfinished past screamed louder than Sanjay's presence in the foreground. The narrative explores her internal battles, her creative aspirations and the bittersweet process of maturing into the person she is meant to be.

Released in theatres on June 20, 2025, 8 Vasantalu is a visually poetic drama with heartfelt performances, especially from Ananthika. Audiences should watch it for its rich emotional depth, soulful music, and a poignant portrayal of growing up, an experience that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
