Aadaalla Majaka

E.V.V. Satyanarayana’s Telugu cinema movie Alluda Majaka, produced in 1995, is a comedy action film. The film stars Chiranjeevi, Ramya Krishna, Rambha and Lakshmi in lead roles. The narrative follows Sitaram, son of a wealthy zamindar, who is ousted from his fortune by rival interests. Unjustly incarcerated for a murder he was not responsible for, he eventually escapes from prison and seeks to gain justice and exact revenge on the people who wronged him and his family.

Sitaram is the son of a village leader who has served as Panchayat President for thirty years. His family and community face trouble from Vasundhara and Peddayya. Peddayya’s son, Siva, returns from the U. S. to marry Pappi, but he opts for Sitaram’s sister, Malleswari, instead. Peddayya agrees to the marriage only after learning that Sitaram’s family land contains valuable granite. As dowry, he claims the land, but Sitaram’s father will not concede, and the marriage gets cancelled. Vasundhara dupes the coolies, seizes their territory, and forces Siva to marry Pappi against his will.

Then it is revealed that Malleswari is pregnant with Siva’s child, leading Sitaram’s father to commit suicide. Sitaram and Malleswari take to the city, where Malleswari is improperly arrested, and Siva pushes her away. Sitaram is framed for the murder of a police officer and sentenced to die, but he too escapes and marries Pappi. Armed with the support of an attorney, he goes undercover to pretend to be a rich NRI, kicks the bad guys’ butts and saves the day. Sivarama Krishna is reunited with Vasundhara, Malleswari marries Siva, Sitaram marries Pappi, and her sister Bobby returns home.

An energetic cocktail of comedy, action, and drama, “Alluda Majaka” serves up mass entertainment with artistic panache. Filled to the brim with show-stealing musical numbers, extravagant car wrecks, and vibrant production design, the film steps into its bombastic energy with chest-thumping pride.
