“Pithala Maathi” is a romantic action comedy film by Manikandan Vidya, with Umapathy Ramaiah, Bala Saravanan, Thambi Ramaiah, and Samskruthy Shenoy playing key roles. It is about an ordinary water supplier whose life completely changes when he unknowingly gets involved in a murder case.
“Umapathi” (Umapathy Ramaiah) is a hardworking water supplier in Madurai. He leads a simple life, helping people in society. On one occasion, he comes to know “Damani” (Samskruthy Shenoy) and falls in love with her. Their romance begins to blossom, and Umapathi fantasizes about a happy life with her.
In the meantime, a strict new revenue collector is posted in Madurai. She has a reputation for being tough and brutal, going after those who cheat the public. She confronts and warns corrupt officials who overcharge individuals for services. Yet, behind the tough face is a sinister secret: she is power-obsessed and has perverse desires.
Things take a dramatic turn when Umapathi and Damani unknowingly release a video that revolves around a murder. The video exposes a crime everyone powerful wished had never happened. Enraged, the revenue officer seeks to take revenge on Umapathi and Damani by implicating them in a false case through her position.
As the pair struggle to clear their names, Umapathi finds himself in a life-and-death battle of survival. Will he succeed in clearing his name and rescuing Damani from the wrath of the officer? Or will he become yet another victim of corruption and abuse of authority?
"Pithala Maathi" is a gripping mix of action, romance, and comedy, addressing themes of justice, misuse of power, and strength, all against the vibrant backdrop of a vibrant Madurai.
