Viraj (Shiva Rajkumar) is adopted by a good family. He becomes smitten with Geetha (Shubra Aiyappa), the daughter of his father's friend. But they are rejected by her father since Viraj is adopted. Shortly after this, Viraj's father has a stroke and subsequently discovers a secret: that Viraj is not an orphan and that his real birth mother, Lakshmi (Jayasudha), and grandfather are actually alive. Interested to know them, Viraj goes to the village of Huzhur, which is far away, and his mother is living under the tyrannical rule of his grandfather. En route, he rescues a girl called Nandini, who introduces him to the cruel village, and there he falls in love with and meets his cousin Pataka Parvathi (Nabha Natesh).
Conflict occurs when Pataka's father attempts to kill Nandini because she is close to Viraj, but Viraj rescues her. When Viraj is asked by Pataka to elope with her, he refuses, respecting the family. Huzhur learns that they have fallen in love and tries to kill Viraj. At this time, Lakshmi discloses that she has long known that Viraj is her son. She and Pataka plead for Huzhur to spare him. Just when Huzhur commands his son-in-law to murder Viraj, he realises how much pain he would inflict and ultimately accepts Viraj as a member of the family.
